Harvey Edward Ludwig of Barbee Lake in Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 4:24 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw at the age of 73.
He was born on May 30, 1948 in Gary, Indiana. Harvey was one of twelve children born to Elaine (Day) Ludwig and Kenneth Ludwig. Growing up he always had someone around to watch out for him and of course being kids, someone to fight with. If you ever asked about his BIG family he would tell you all about them with such pride!
Harvey was a 1966 graduate of Calumet High School in Gary, Indiana. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy on February 16, 1968 and proudly served until his honorable discharge on December 9, 1971. He was a hard worker and always dependable, he worked as a fork-lift driver for R.R. Donnelley in Warsaw for many years.
He met Samantha Jo Jetton and married her on June 25, 2011. They shared the love of their combined families and enjoyed spending time together. Harvey was an avid fisherman, he was a big Cub’s baseball fan, and living on the lake made him so happy. He was the type of person who never met a stranger, and could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. His greatest joy was being “Batman’s Papaw” to his grandson Bentley. Harvey was an undeniable presence in his family’s life and will forever be dearly loved and missed!
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Samantha Jo Ludwig (Warsaw, Indiana); step-son: Mikel (Brittney) Hatcher (Pierceton, Indiana); step-daughter: Sara Hatcher (Warsaw, Indiana); and two grandchildren. Bentley Barfell and Makinley Hatcher. He also leaves behind six sisters: Laura Nichols; Diana Drudge; Donna (Donoon) Holbrook; Kim (Don) Obacz; Cindy (Tim) Alford; Pearl (Ron) Slatton; three brothers: Matthew (Tammy) Ludwig; Kenny (Debbie) Ludwig; Tony Ludwig; and best friends, Roger Maxwell and Hector Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Ludwig, sister, Sherry Ludwig, two sons, Chad and Jeffery Ludwig and his step-daughter, Angela Hatcher.
