With winter months approaching, health leaders are reminding you to stay be safe from the danger of carbon monoxide poisoning inside your own home. Carbon monoxide is difficult to detect, however, carbon monoxide poisoning is completely preventable. Health leaders recommend you have professionals check your furnace and water heater to make sure they are working properly. They say to never use generators, grills, camp stoves, or other fuel-burning devices inside your home, basement, or garage. If you use a generator, be sure it is located outside at least 25 feet away from your home. Don't warm up your car in your garage with the garage door down. Above all else, install fresh batteries in your carbon monoxide detectors.
