Just because students are back in school that doesn't mean your school shopping is done. It's always a good time to concentrate on what you are putting in lunch boxes and on the dinner plate. Fitness expert and child adovate Merilee Kern says there are plenty of healthy meals and snacks that end up in the trash can. She says look for lean lunch meat, whole grain bread or wheat wrap. Go light with low or fat free cheese and mayonnaise and mustard. If your kids like peanut butter and jelly, you are in luck there two, there are plenty of healthy alternatives on store shelves if you look. Kern says skip sugary juices. She also recommends low salt preztels, sugar-free yogurt, cottage and celery.
