Helping Hands Food Pantry, located at the intersection of South CR 1000W and West CR 600S, Mentone, will be open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to provide local families with Thanksgiving meals. This will be the 27th year that Jerry and Mary Sechrist have provided this service to the Tippecanoe Valley School District. They expect to see over 200 families on Tuesday. Photo identification is required. The couple advise that families come as early as possible, as they know the place gets packed quickly. In the 27 years of operation, Helping Hands has never run out of resources. “Every year we have always had enough food for everyone,” Mary stated. Helping Hands offers local families canned fruits, vegetables, a multitude of what Jerry referred to as “junk food,” meat, bread and other items like diapers. Tippecanoe Valley Middle School students will be volunteering all day.
