A house was heavily damaged in a fire near Hoffman Lake Sunday. At about 5:10 p.m., Atwood Fire Department responded to a call at 7721 W. Forest Ave., Warsaw.
The fire started in the garage and then spread to the house, according to Atwood Fire Chief Mike Harmon. No injuries were reported. Firefighters had the blaze under control in 45 minutes, but were on the scene until about 10 p.m.
The garage, house and car were a total loss. The fire was caused by a vehicle battery charger, Harmon said. The house was owned by Bryce Barrus. Fire departments in Warsaw, Etna Green and Nappanee assisted at the scene.
