It turns out an Indiana University student was a passenger on the Malaysia Airlines flight that was shot down and crashed in Ukraine. 25 year-old Karlijn Keijzer was one of 295 people aboard that doomed jet. She was from Amsterdam, originally, but received her master's degree from IU and was working toward a doctorate in Chemistry. IU President Michael McRobbie issued a statement calling her an outstanding student and a talented athlete. Keijzer was a Varsity member of the IU rowing team in 2011, and earn Academic All-Big Ten recognition.
