SOUTH BEND (Network Indiana) — The presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden Tuesday night took on the identity of a “bar fight”, says Republican candidate for Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita.
At a campaign stop in South Bend Wednesday, Rokita seemed to agree with much of the public opinion about the debate. He spoke at the Michiana Right to Life headquarters.
“This certainly wasn’t Lincoln-Douglas, okay? Understand this was a bit of a bar fight, but it’s reflective, I think, of where our country is right now and I think that we are searching for a way forward as a country, where we are gonna be for the next two-hundred years, I hope we get the decision right,” said Rokita.
Rokita was endorsed by Indiana’s umbrella pro-life organization, Indiana Right to Life.
“Todd Rokita is the pro-life choice for Attorney General,” said Indiana Right to Life PAC chairman Mike Fichter. “We have absolute certainty that he will strongly defend Indiana’s pro-life laws in the courts, including future laws as well as those laws already being challenged in the federal courts.”
Rokita said being pro-life is a very personal thing to him and his family.
“For my wife Kathy and I this is not just an abstract concept, it is real life. We have two sons, Ryan and Teddy. Our oldest son Teddy was born with Angelman Syndrome. Teddy cannot speak, does not walk well, and has an intellectual disability. We know that God gave us Teddy. We truly believe he will change the world for the better in his own way, he has for us. We love him. We believe every life is precious and deserves to be cherished and protected,” said Rokita.
Rokita also promised voters that he would only enforce the laws as they are written. Rokita will face former Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel in November.
