INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — No prominent candidates are challenging new Indiana Republican gubernatorial candidate Eric Holcomb’s pick for his running mate.
Holcomb announced state Auditor Suzanne Crouch as his selection Friday, just ahead of deadline to file candidate paperwork to be considered by the GOP state committee when it formally chooses the lieutenant governor nominee on Monday.
Two political unknowns also filed for the position, along with the 64-year-old Crouch, who has been state auditor since early 2014 after serving as a state legislator from Evansville for nine years.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Gregg’s spokesman declined to comment on the selection of Crouch until after it becomes official. Gregg’s running mate is state Rep. Christina Hale of Indianapolis.
