A new study shows that the state of Indiana is improving in educating kids…but there's still a hill to climb. Glenn Augustine with the Indiana Youth Institute says the results come from the Annie E Casey Foundation's 2014 Kids Count Data Book and shows that over the last 8 years, we've seen the percentage of kids not proficient in 4th grade reading go down from 70 to 62 percent. That same number difference in 8th graders who aren't proficient in math. Augustine says there are several factors that play into those numbers, and it varies from child to child.
