Indiana recorded 12 flu-related deaths last week, raising to 97 the number of such deaths in the state this season. Meantime, a child in southeast Michigan has died from the flu, making it the state's first confirmed adolescent death from the virus this season. About a dozen adult deaths due to flu have been reported this season. The Indiana State Health Department's latest flu report shows nine of the 12 deaths for the week were among people age 65 and older. Of the state's 97 total deaths this season, 83 have occurred in that age group. The counties with the most flu deaths are all in northern Indiana, with Allen and Lake each recording 10 deaths and St. Joseph County reporting nine.
