Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock has resigned. The announcemenet comes four months before his term was scheduled to end.
The website IndyPolitics.com says Murdock made the to avoid a loss of benefits that would result from changes in the state retirement system. A statement from Mourdock's office did not mention a reason, only citing a desire to pursue other interesters.
