Indiana Voters Set Record In November Election With Early Ballots

It turns out Indiana voters set a record with 33 percent taking part in the November general election by casting their ballots early. The Secretary of State’s Office says this year’s mark compares with 24 percent in 2008 and 22 percent in 2012. The election turnout of 58 percent of registered voters fell short of the level of 62 percent in 2008, when Democratic President Obama won his first term.

2-point-8 million of Indiana’s 4-point-8 million registered voters cast ballots this year. In St. Joseph County, 58 percent of registered voters took part, with nearly a quarter of them voting early. Fifty percent of registered voters in Elkhart County cast votes. Just over half of them did it early, as well.
