Senator Joe Donnelly is urging Indiana residents to pray for the family of a former Army Ranger who militants in Syria have threatened with beheading in an online video. Donnelly expressed sympathy for Peter Kassig's parents during what he called “an unimaginably devastating situation for any parent to endure.” A video released Friday appears to show Kassig kneeling as a militant says the Islamic State group will kill him next. Kassig traveled to Lebanon in 2012 to work as a medical assistant. Governor Mike Pence said in a statement his prayers, too, are with the 26 year-old Kassig and his family “during this unspeakably difficult time.”
