WARSAW — Input is being sought on future plans for a downtown Warsaw cultural arts district.

Main Street Warsaw and the Warsaw Public Arts Commission are working with a consultant, Designing Local.

On Thursday, an open house was held at Mad Anthony’s Brewing Company for the chance to offer their thoughts.

The idea is part of Main Street Warsaw’s 2030 Strategic Plan announced in February.

Officials hope to add more culture and arts to the downtown in the hope of making it a more attractive destination.

Josh Lapp, co-founder and principal of Designing Local, said they’ll consider a variety of ideas for enhancing the downtown.

There is a sense of urgency to assemble a plan that can be submitted soon so that it can qualify for state and other grant funding.

Be believe the (state) Readi program will open for applications on July 1 so we’re looking to complete all of our work before then so we have some projects are ready to go,” Lapp said.

Those could include new types of art, architectural lighting or even creating a dedicated section of street that could be used at times for street festivals. Other ideas could involve murals, and enhancing alleys or public use.

The public can still provide input by visiting a new website, warsawartsplan.com.
