Junior Achievement of Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley hosted their annual Play4JA Bowling event on Nov. 9, raising $12,600 to support Junior Achievement, according to a news release provided Tuesday.
“This year, we were able to partner with The Strengthening Families Program here in Warsaw. We had 16 families join us for this year’s event,” said Sarah Silva, Committee Chair for Junior Achievement in Kosciusko County. “We were able to give families the chance to have fun and have no worries for a night. They were treated to games, pizza and bowling. Seeing all the joy coming from the families laughing and smiling was the best part. Junior Achievement hopes this positive experience will be something that they will remember forever.
“On top of an amazing night, we are also able to support 1,012 students in 44 classes this school year,” she said.
“We could not have done it without all our amazing sponsors,” Silva stated. “We had 17 of sponsors and we are especially grateful for Tranzstar Trucking, Tranzstar Warehouse and Zolman Farms for being the presenting sponsor this year.”
Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed. This is done by engaging community volunteers who deliver lessons that promote financial capability, work and career readiness and business ownership. These lessons in classrooms across the community impact young people’s perceptions about the importance of education, as well as provide critical life schools, the release states.
“I have been involved with Junior Achievement for 10 years here in Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley. I love the commitment and passion behind JA and our volunteers who inspire educational and motivational relevancy in financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness through hands on experience. It’s so rewarding to invest in the youth of our community,” said Jennifer Flinn, Board Chair for Junior Achievement of Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley.
Junior Achievement of Warsaw/Tippecanoe Valley is under the umbrella of Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana Inc.
