Some purchases to help keep the Sheriff’s department up-to-date on equipment were talked about at Tuesday’s Kosciusko County Commissioner’s meeting.
Sheriff Kyle Dukes first talked about the purchasing and training of two K-9 units in January, which included training for both the dog and the handler that he said both have to pass. Equipment was also purchased for those units, including cages for vehicles, vests, badges, leashes and food for the dogs.
New firearms were purchased for the SWAT team, along with new body armor. Dukes also mentioned that the old squad room in the building was turned into a training room.
Finishing up, Dukes said the Sheriff’s department is officially back up to full staff and both the men’s and women’s JCAP programs have restarted this past Monday.
