K21 Health Foundation has made another appreciation gift of $20,000 to an organization that has served our community for more than 20 years, as a way to celebrate their 20th year. When you think of non-profit organizations that have had tremendous impact in serving the citizens of Kosciusko County for many years, Cardinal Services, Inc. of Indiana should immediately come to mind.
In 1954, a group of parents who had children with disabilities came together to find services that would help their children achieve their fullest potential. When they discovered those services were either too far away or too expensive, they decided to create their own. Today, the organization that began in someone’s living room now serves more than 4,000 people in our community annually.
Over the years, Cardinal has grown its services to offer Community (Apartment) Living, Day Services, Residential (Group Home) Living, and employment services through CCI Manufacturing. Cardinal also serves children and families through the Women, Infant & Children program (WIC), Head Start/Early Head Start, and Healthy Families. They also manage the county public transportation program KABS.
“Kosciusko County is very blessed to have the programs and services that Cardinal offers,” said K21 President & CEO Rich Haddad. “K21 has been glad to partner with and support Cardinal over the years in a variety of ways.”
