Kosciusko County may look into adopting a virtual meetings policy in the future.
County Attorney Ed Ormsby said the policy is part of a new state statute that would allow a commissioner to participate in a meeting virtually given that they can both be seen and heard. It would not allow a commissioner to participate virtually for all meetings, but would set a limitation.
The current state statute says can miss no more than 50 percent of meetings in-person, but Ormsby said an ordinance that the commissioners have already overlooked brought that number down to 35 percent.
No action was taken on the policy and is expected to be discussed further at either the July or August commissioner’s meeting.
