Kosciusko County reverted back to a yellow advisory this week as COVID positivity rate took a jump in the past week.

The latest numbers from the Indiana Department of Health show the seven day positivity rate up to 6.8 percent, double from the 3.4 percent one week ago. Despite positivity rates being up, case counts remain low. Only 52 cases have been reported over the past week per 100,000 residents.

COVID spread continues to be low across most of the state as more than half of the counties are now considered blue. Only 282 new cases were reported on Wednesday, while the seven-day positivity rate is at 4.5 percent.

VACCINATIONS DROP IN RECENT WEEKS

After Kosciusko County was averaging nearly 400 vaccinations over a seven day period back in mid May, that number has dropped under 100.

As of June 1st, the seven day rolling average of vaccinations was 90. The number of fully vaccinated individuals was 22,732, or about 34 percent of the county population. Nearly 46,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered.

Nearby, Whitley County has seen over 40 percent of the population fully vaccinated, Allen County is nearing 43 percent while St. Joseph County has seen about half of the population vaccinated.

As of Wednesday, over 2.5 million people in Indiana have been fully vaccinated and 5.2 million doses have been administered.
