Teens in Kosciusko County are getting the opportunity to act as jurors, bailiffs, clerks, and attorneys. It’s all part of the youth development program “Teen Court”.
The seven who are participating come from Warsaw, Triton, and Wawasee High Schools and were sworn-in last night after training and practice.
Now they will help determine sentencing for some juvenile offenders required to complete community service, restitution, or other learning opportunities.
Kosciusko Cares Youth Services Operations ManagerĀ Renea Salyer says the teensĀ are given cases from the prosecutor’s office that range from youth shoplifting to truancy cases.
