With Governor Eric Holcomb announcing the release of the mask mandate a week from Tuesday and giving local government the power to mandate their own, Kosciusko County will continue to hold the line as they have since the beginning of the pandemic, which is keeping to what the state has done.
Teresa Reed from the Kosciusko County Health Department says the county is not planning on adding restrictions unless the department sees something on the local level that could be concerning.
She added that businesses can do what they feel is comfortable regarding masks, along with the general public. More is expected to be discussed on Wednesday during the bi-weekly COVID briefing.
Reed emphasized with allergy season looming, she is asking those who feel ill to reconsider going out or into work. She says the symptoms between allergies and COVID can overlap enough that they can be indistinguishable, but that would be a point where a test could indicate whether a person has the virus or is just suffering from allergies.
