Kyle Dukes has won the Republican nomination for the Kosciusko County Sheriff position.
He maintained a strong lead all night, finishing with over 50% of the vote.
This means he beat out the current Sheriff, William “Rocky” Goshert. Goshert was selected by a Republican Caucus for the role when former Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine was convicted of felony intimidation last year.
Goshert had also served two terms as the county’s top cop from 2007 to 2015.
But now Dukes will take the role, pending the November general election in which there is currently no Democrat challenger.
Dukes has 17 years of experience with the Indiana State Police. He formerly ran for Sheriff when a caucus was held in June to replace Aaron Rovenstine.
Dukes lives in Milford and his father was a two-term sheriff in Noble County.
