Kyle Dukes was sworn in as the Kosciusko County Sheriff Tuesday morning.
By his side was his father, a former two-term Noble County Sheriff. He was also joined by current Noble County Sheriff Doug Harp.
It was an emotional moment for Dukes, who previously served with the Indiana State Police for 17 years.
Dukes tells News Now Warsaw he plans to work with the Warsaw Police Department on a unified drug task force as part of his role as Sheriff.
Warsaw Police Chief Scott Whitaker and several other police officers were in attendance at the swearing in ceremony. The old courtroom in the Kosciusko County Courthouse where it took place was a full house with no empty seats.
Dukes was elected in the May primary with over 50% of the vote. He did not have a Democratic challenger in the November midterm election.
