Laketon teen arrested after chase through Kosciusko and Wabash counties

A Laketon teen was arrested Thursday night after leading police on a high-speed chase through Kosciusko and Wabash counties.

Trace Michael Bradley, 19, Laketon, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:22 p.m. Thursday for dealing marijuana, resisting law enforcement and reckless driving, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Chris McKeand. His preliminary bond was set at $5,250.

KCSD Sgt. Don McCune said officers were working a detail in which they were watching for vehicles not stopping for or driving around school buses. He emphasized that no buses were involved in the incident.

At the intersection of CR 700S and County Farm Road, the officers saw Bradley go through a stop sign without stopping and initiated a normal traffic stop, but Bradley disregarded the officers and a pursuit began.

McCune said Bradley was traveling at a “really excessive” high rate of speed. The pursuit went through some back roads, then south on Ind. 15 into Wabash County. About 5 or 6 miles into Wabash County, McCune said Bradley wrecked in a field.

There was minor damage to Bradley’s Mazda passenger vehicle and he was not hurt. He was the only person in his vehicle.

Bradley was found with marijuana and is a suspended driver, which is an infraction.

Along with the KCSD, law enforcement agencies participating included the Indiana State Police from the Peru Post, Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, North Manchester Police Department and the Silver Lake Police Department.
