More information has been released about a burglary suspect allegedly caught in the act in rural LaPorte County last week.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26-year-old Charles Appleberry hours after he was confronted by a homeowner in a pole barn. Appleberry was able to get away from the homeowner, but was caught in a field hours later.
A sheriff’s office spokesman says Appleberry may be connected to about 100 thefts and burglaries over the past six months in LaPorte County. This includes attempts to enter vehicles to steal them.
Appleberry is initially charged with burglary and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious felon and is being held in LaPorte County Jail on $50,000 bond.
More charges may be coming as the investigation into Appleberry’s recent activities continue.
