Lakeland Christian Academy’s seventh annual food drive for Combined Community Service netted just over 13,000 pounds of food – 2,000 more pounds than last year.
LCA asked community members to place non-perishable foot items in Owen’s bags and leave the bags at the end of their driveways. LCA students then picked up all the donations early Wednesday morning and delivered them to CCS. Peggi Lisenbee-Wright, CCS director of Emergency Assistance, said food pantries are notoriously low in the month of September since summer is ending and kids are going back to school.
