Leesburg Man Arrested After Allegedly Killing His Father

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the shooting death of a Leesburg man by his son.

 

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies responded this evening at 9:04 p.m. to the location of 609 East Levi Lee Road, Leesburg, after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a potential shooting incident.  Deputies arrived at the residence and located the victim, identified as Ronnie Poe, 60, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head.  Officers were advised that the suspect, Ryan Daniel Poe, 35, had retreated to his bedroom.  The suspect subsequently exited the residence and was immediately taken into custody without incident.  Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives have confirmed that the suspect was the son of the victim, both residing at the address of the shooting.

 

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office pronounced Ronnie Poe deceased at the scene from the gunshot wound.  Ryan Daniel Poe has been arrested on a preliminary charge of felony murder.  He currently is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a prosecutorial hold.  The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department was assisted with the investigation by members of the Kosciusko County Major Crimes Task Force/Crime Scene Unit and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
