License branches across the state will have longer hours the day of and the day before Election Day to provide free photo IDs for voters.
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has announced that branches will extend hours of operation on Nov. 7 and 8 to issue identification cards and driver’s licenses that may be used as required photo identification at polling places. All branches will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 7 and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m Nov. 8, according to a press release from the state.
License branches will only process new, amended or replacement ID cards, and renewed, amended or replacement driver’s licenses and learner permits. New driver’s licenses and learner permits will be processed as long as the customer has previously completed all required testing.
The Indiana BMV provides free, state-issued ID cards for voting purposes to any unlicensed Hoosiers who are U.S. citizens as long as they can provide proper documentation and will be at least 18 years of age on or before the next general or municipal election.
