Lightning Safety Awareness Week continues and we're learning that Indiana ranks 13th in the nation for insurance claims from lightning damage. According to State Farm Insurance, they paid out Nearly $4 million dollars in lightning claims last year in the Hoosier State. Plasma and high-definition television sets, home entertainment centers, multiple computers, smart phones, gaming systems and other expensive devices continue to have a big impact on the number of claims. They suggest a whole-house surge protector is the best starting point for reducing the risk of damage or a fire as well as localized surge protection for important or expensive electronics.
