Friday June 1 is National Donut Day, and a local bakery has the official donut for it.
Rise’n Roll was voted best donuts in America by Dawn Foods Magazine. Because of the honor, their cinnamon caramel donut is the official donut of National Donut Day 2018.
Unlike some other national “holidays” that were created for seemingly no reason, Donut Day has been around since 1938 when it was established as a way to honor The Salvation Army Donut Lassies who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.
Beyond Rise ‘n Roll’s right to celebrate this year, several chains are offering deals as well.
Walmart is giving every customer a glazed donut. They expect to hand out more than a million.
At Martin’s Supermarkets you can get a free donut from the case or $1 off a dozen donuts Friday.
Krispy Kreme is offering a free donut to all guests, with no purchase necessary.

Burger King is even celebrating, but unfortunately their deal won’t be offered in Indiana.
In New York, LA, Miami, Boston, and Salt Lake City locations will be offering a Whopper that has the center cut out. The burger chain is calling it “the first flame-grilled donut”. The center will also be served with purchase as a “mini slider.”
we’ve found it: the holey grill.
