An Elkhart man remains behind bars after police say he admitted to molesting a friend’s young daughter. The 8-year-old girl told her mother that John Trinidad Jr. touched her inappropriately. Trinidad, who is 52 years old, is said to be a friend of the family. The child said Trinidad touched her several times at her home in LaGrange County and in an apartment in Elkhart during a six-month span beginning in the summer of 2013. She said Trinidad called her “his girlfriend” and told her not to tell anyone about what they were doing. The Elkhart Truth reports Trinidad admitted to detectives touching the girl more than 10 times. His trial is scheduled for the end of June. If convicted, Trinidad could face as many as 50 years in prison.
