Police in western Indiana say a man apparently angry at not being allowed to see his child waved an AK-47 assault rifle during a standoff before he surrendered after more than two hours. Police were called to a subdivision near the Vigo County town of Seelyville about the disturbance Wednesday evening. Numerous police cars crowded the street where the man's car stopped and residents were told to stay inside. Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing tells the Tribune-Star and WTHI-TV the man had an assault rifle and two handguns that he waved out the car windows. Ewing says he believed the man was trying to get officers to shoot him. Ewing says the man was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation and will face criminal recklessness charges.
