It's a guilty plea from a man charged in the kidnapping and rape case that goes back nearly three decades. The case dates back to 1988, but after seeing reports of successful prosecutions based on old forensic DNA, the victim, who was merely 10 years old at the time of the crime, contacted the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department to ask about her case. Investigators got ahold of evidence in a secured vault at the State Crime Lab that was part of the case and hadn't been touched in decades. With the new technology, investigators were able to pinpoint a suspect, 52 year-old Robert Quinn, whom they charged with rape, molestation and criminal confinement. Earlier this week, Quinn pleaded guilty to the rape charge and waived his right to a jury trial on the other two charges. On Wednesday, Quinn was found guilty of child molestation and criminal confinement during the bench trial. Quinn could faces 20 to 50 years in prison for the rape charge when he's sentenced in February.
