ROCHESTER — A man was shot and killed by police on Saturday morning in Rochester after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers.
According to Indiana State Police, the Rochester Police Department and Fulton County Sheriff’s Office were called just after 10:45 a.m. to a home on Monroe Street on reports of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm.
When officers arrived, police say they found 37-year-old Steven Harding of Rochester inside the home pointing a gun in their direction.
An officer and a deputy reportedly fired their weapons at least once and struck Harding. He died from his injuries at the scene.
ISP is handling the investigation. The case will be reviewed by the Fulton County Prosecutor’s Office once it is complete.
The officer and deputy involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave until further notice.
