A Warsaw man is unharmed after his car was hit by a train.
Officers found the driver out of the vehicle and walking around when they arrived at Main and Hickory Streets shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday.
The 68-year-old told police he did not realize the red flashing lights had been activated until he was on the tracks. He attempted to reverse but was unable to do so before his car was struck by a southbound Norfolk Southern train.
The crash caused traffic congestion for a few hours and for several crossroads to be blocked by the stopped train during the investigation.
Damage is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
