NORTH MANCHESTER, (AP) — Manchester University plans to dedicate a Peace Pole to three foreign students killed when they were struck by a vehicle.
The school announced Thursday the families of Nerad Grace Mangai of Jos, Nigeria, and Brook Dagnew and Kirubel Alemayehu Hailu, both of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will be at the university on Sept. 16 for a memorial service and Peace Pole dedication at the site of the future Intercultural Center.
The three died when they were struck early Feb. 21 on Interstate 69 about 50 miles southwest of Fort Wayne after their vehicle got a flat tire.
The Peace Pole will remain at the site until construction begins on the intercultural center next year. That facility will include a permanent memorial to the students.
