Indiana has awarded more than $1.4 million in early education capacity-building grants to applicants with pre-kindergarten programs in 12 counties.
The 12 grants from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration will help early learning providers and county coalitions serve more pre-K children and increase the quality of early education opportunities.
Those receiving grants of more than $200,000 each are the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, the Early Childhood Coalition for Wayne County Kids, and the Marshall County Early Childhood Coalition. Other grant winners receiving lesser amounts are located in Bartholomew, DeKalb, Porter, Newton, Madison, Montgomery, Spencer, Tippecanoe and Johnson counties.
All applicants were required to secure matching funds from local businesses or other stakeholders.
The funding was awarded by the Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning.
