The man being treated in Indiana for MERS is on the road to recovery. He was diagnosed last week at Community Hospital in Munster after traveling to the United States from Saudi Arabia, where he lives and is a health care worker at a hospital with confirmed cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. Health officials say while the virus is fatal to about one-third of those who contract it, the patient is improving and will be released from the hospital soon. There are less than 300 confirmed cases of MERS in the world. This is the first time it's been seen in the United States. None of the people who came into contact with the patient have shown any symptoms of the virus.
