Although the results from last year's ISTEP exams showed modest gains, Indiana's small group of charter schools are viewing the scores a little differently. Adminstrators are saying the results are more of a “mixed bag.” The 58 charter schools that administered the test saw both modest improvements and also declining performances similar to the state's various public schools. Indiana Deparment of Education Spokesman Daniel Altman says the state will continue to work with those schools.
