A Michiana mother police found asleep behind the wheel of a car at a Pierceton gas station possessing meth, marijuana and heroin is due back in court today (thursday) in Kosciusko County. It was back in December, when 21-year old mother of two, Rachel Stevens was awoken by authorities. All the while, her 9-month old daughter was an hour away in Fort Wayne. Police say it took them over 17 hours to recover the little girl and place her in the care of DCS. Now, Stevens is speaking out. She said, ” At that point and time, I did what I thought was right. I don't care if people call me a bad mother, because I'm not. I don't regret what happened. I regret the people that I hurt, but I had to hit rock bottom before I could come back up.” According to reports, Stevens says she's trying to mend herself after years of abusing meth, something she says she gave up at the turn of the year.
