SILVER LAKE — A South Whitley motorist died after colliding with another vehicle in southern Kosciusko County early Monday night.
Emergency workers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of SR 13 and CR 1000S at about 5:55 p.m., according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision involved a Buick LeSabre driven by Jason Jones and a Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Susan Lewis.
Preliminary investigation determined that Jones was eastbound on CR 1000S and failed to yield, striking the vehicle driven by Lewis who was southbound on SR 13.
Jones, 24, of South Whitley, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner, Tyler Huffer.
Lewis, 61, of North Manchester, was taken by ambulance to a Fort Wayne Hospital for complaints of pain to her lower body.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Pierceton
Police Department, Silver Lake Police Department, Sydney Fire Department,
Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, and Raven’s wrecker Service.
