So, what were those mysterious booms heard from Elkhart to Warsaw this past Saturday? Hundreds of people heard them, and a lot of theories have been debated. Our partners at The Elkhart Truth have done some digging, and while they haven't discovered the cause of the booms, they have ruled out a few possibilities, such as the weather oddity known as a “frost-quake.” Elkhart Truth reporter Danielle Waldron says the loud pops were heard late in the afternoon and into the evening. The newspaper has also ruled out fireworks, seismic activity, a large jet and a connection to the meteor shower that happened Saturday night. So what was the boom? We may never know.
