When you’re a new teen driving on the road, it can be very dangerous–especially when you have distractions. This is 'National Teen Driver Safety Week' and the Triple-A Hoosier Motor Club and Indiana State Police hope to raise awareness of the importance of new driver education. Cellphones are considered one of the top two distractions for teen drivers. The second being peer passengers. A law, which took effect on July 1st, states that new drivers under the age of 21 are restricted from using any type of telecommunications devices while driving. This includes devices that can be used hands free, and the only exception is an emergency such as dialing 911. Parents are also encouraged to lead by example.
