New ISTEP+ Vendor Promises Better Experience

The new vendor chosen to administer the ISTEP+ exam to Indiana students is promising that next spring's wave of testing won't be marred by the glitches that plagued its predecessor. Pearson Education Inc., which replaced C-T-B/McGraw-Hill as the vendor for the tests, has its own history of scoring errors, computer glitches and testing delays though. The National Center for Fair & Open Testing has identified more than 40 issues with Pearson tests since the year 2000. State officials were aware of previous issues with Pearson's performance, but state regulations don't allow past performance to be considered in evaluating competitive bids. The company says it's launched a new testing program that's nullified past glitches.
