WARSAW — Kosciusko County is preparing for some major updates to the Justice Building in Warsaw.
The improvements involve new carpet, wallpaper and paint for much of the building– other than the courtroom areas.
The project is expected to carry a big price tag – so much so that the county is looking to use money from its remaining supply of the American Rescue Plan Act.
County administrator Marsha McSherry said there’s a lot of work to be done.
“It’s a big project and an expensive project,” McSherry said.
Some of the wallpaper is falling off.
“We’ve tried to glue it back up but once it starts to come down, it shrinks and then it never stays. It’s a heavy commercial wallpaper, she said.
Much of the building was constructed 42 years ago and in most of the areas, those types of improvements have never been made, she said.
McSherry was asked if the cost could top $1 million and she declined to speculate.
The county expects to have an estimate in about two months.
