A new pilot program for Pre-K students will launch next year in five Indiana Counties. One of those is Allen. Governor Mike Pence announced today the program will be tested in Allen, Jackson, Lake, Marion and Vanderburgh Counties. The General Assembly established the program last session to prepare low-income four-year olds for success in schools. The counties were selected by the state's Family and Social Services administration according to need and the county’s ability and readiness to meet that need. In Allen County, United Way says they were among the 15 community organizations that will spearhead local efforts. The organization says near 15 hundred underserved kids benefit locally.
