You've been told that salt is bad for you, and you should cut back. However a new international study suggests that the average amount that people consume is OK for heart health, and too little may be as bad as too much. The controversial study says limiting salt is still important for people with high blood pressure. However people who consume 3 to 6 grams of sodium a day had the lowest heart risks. Americans average roughly 4 grams a day. Dr. Brian Storm of Rutgers University says sodium isn't the whole story, and people should go for moderation. They also note that this study shouldn't be used as an excuse to eat more salt.
