Police in LaPorte County are warning residents about a possible scam in which the perpetrators impersonate utility workers. According to a post on the LaPorte County Sheriff Department’s Facebook page, scammers dressed as NIPSCO employees have been going door-to-door telling residents they must inspect their homes due to recent power outages. With that, police say utility workers should not need to enter a house during a power outage, whether in LaPorte, or anywhere. They ask that if someone approaches your home in that manner, you call police right away.
