North Webster and the surrounding area will be featured on the “Our Town” series on South Bend’s PBS TV station WNIT.
The show will air from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday on channel 34. It was coordinated by the North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce.
Several local people will be on the broadcast Monday answering phones for pledges and being interviewed, according to the announcement from the Chamber of Commerce. By pledging support for the public television station, viewers can receive a copy of the program.
WNIT staff and 24 local individuals did the videography for the special, which will feature North Webster area sites, information and history. It is part of a continuing series for WNIT and will be shown several times during the next few weeks and again in April and May.
WNIT Vice President of Production Angel Hernandez is quoted in the announcement as saying, “In the many years I have been working on the ‘Our Town’ projects, going back 16 years, I have never seen such an amazing group of volunteer videographers. Their love and pride for North Webster and telling its joyful stories is truly inspiring.”
He continued, “What set North Webster apart is the love the citizens have for the community and for each other. Each comment praised fellow citizens (and) talked about the spirit of volunteerism. The welcoming nature for those outside of the area and gestures of loving kindness by citizens for each other is not only inspiring, it is amazing.”
