FORT WAYNE (Network Indiana) — If you disregard a store’s mask policy in Fort Wayne, you could end up in handcuffs.
If police are called about a guest in a store who refuses to wear a mask required by store policy, the customer will be asked to leave by a police officer, Fort Wayne police told WANE-TV on Tuesday.
If the customer continues to refuse, they will be arrested for trespassing, according to WANE.
Trespassing is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year of imprisonment and a fine of up to $5,000.
Many stores in Fort Wayne are requiring customers to wear masks in an effort to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
